  • 2 cups of basmati rice
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup of green peas
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4-5 green cardamom pods
  • 4-5 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil or ghee (clarified butter)
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish




Instructions: How to Make Pulao Recipe

  1. Rinse the basmati rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear.  after that, you can Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain and set them aside.
  2. Now take a pan and put them over medium heat and added the oil or ghee to the pan and make them heated. Add the cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, bay leaf, and cumin seeds. Sauté them for a minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the sliced onions to the pan and cook until they turn golden brown. Stir occasionally to ensure even browning.
  4. Now, add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chilies to the pan. Sauté for another minute until the raw aroma disappears.
  5. Add the diced carrots and green peas to the pan. Stir-fry the vegetables for a few minutes until they become slightly tender.
  6. Add the soaked and drained basmati rice to the pan. Gently stir the rice to combine it with the spices and vegetables.
  7. Sprinkle turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt over the rice. Stir well to evenly distribute the spices.
  8. Pour 4 cups of water into the pan. Increase the heat and bring the mixture to a boil.
  9. Once the water reaches a rolling boil, reduce the heat to low and cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid. Allow the rice to cook undisturbed for about 15-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and all the water has been absorbed.
  10. Turn off the heat and let the pulao sit covered for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  11. Fluff the pulao gently with a fork, ensuring that the grains remain separate. Transfer it to a serving dish and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
