  • 8-10 pav buns
  • 1/4 cup tamarind chutney
  • 1/4 cup green chutney
  • Butter or oil for toasting the buns

Instruction (Vada Pav Banane ki Recipe)

1. To prepare the Vada, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When they start spluttering, add ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, and curry leaves. Saute for a few seconds and add mashed potatoes, turmeric powder, salt, and asafoetida. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Set aside to cool.

2. For the batter, mix besan, rice flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, asafoetida, and salt in a bowl. Add water gradually and whisk until you get a smooth and thick batter.

3. Now, take a small portion of the potato mixture and roll it into a ball. Flatten it slightly with your palms to form a patty. Repeat with the remaining potato mixture.

4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Dip the potato patties in the batter, making sure they are coated well. Gently drop them into the hot oil and fry until they turn golden brown. Drain excess oil on a paper towel.

5. Cut the pav buns into halves. Apply butter or oil on the inner sides and toast them on a griddle until they turn light brown.

6. To assemble the Vada Pav, spread green chutney on one side of the bun and tamarind chutney on the other. Place a Vada in the center and press it gently. Serve hot with more chutney on the side.
